liminal

the landscape of our private space and its capacity to contain and sustain us, to constrain and enslave us
Illicitly,
breathe the dust
listen to the acoustic and inaudible
look out from within
exist and disappear like centuries of congregational souls:
arcane architecture, toll of time, neglect and decay,
mysterious, redolent, tangible atmosphere

Location: St Michael and All Angels, Suffolk
Hours of emptiness, absence and silence fall as light and shadow, sounding this building’s redolent, neglected interior.

Liminal
conveys a subjective, uncanny experience of being in a building that has traced eight centuries of time, through performance, image, sound and silence, exploring an entirely phenomenological, personal approach to filmmaking and sound. All the material was captured and recorded on site, seeking an interconnection of the elements: location; field recording; vocal; visual.

Liminal explores the curious arcane details of the church and churchyard, imagining in the extreme what it would feel like to put myself in those various unexpected places.
