Stabat Mater is an experimental Super-8mm film made in collaboration with family members, bringing two separate films together in an edit along the film’s length. The scene is a domestic kitchen: a woman, a mother on the left engaged in domesticity; a man, a father, on the right talking at the table. Mending a fractured, irreconcilable relationship; isolated in their own worlds, yet forced into the same frame. The film’s uneven bulk inevitably got caught in the projector, most of which melted and caught fire.

2025 screened as part of Dialogues by Sophie Standford (UK)
DIVFUSE Film Archive No.1 with a theme on domesticity.
